Abhijeet Mahanta

Sales & Marketing Director - South Asia Region

 

Abhijeet is a true man of steel and needs little introduction to steelmills across the Indian Sub Continent and South Asia having been responsible for sales of over 15 million tonnes of ferrous raw materials in his illustrious career to date spanning the course of three decades.

Abhijeet’s appointment will further strengthen and under pin our already solid foundations in the region in the firm’s pursuit of further synergies with our customers through-out South Asia. 

We firmly believe our people and combined team are the key to our success, delivering innovative and bespoke solutions to both customers we buy from and customers we sell to through unrivalled experience, in-house expertise and unparalleled industry understanding.

In his spare time, Abhijeet enjoys spending time with his family and travelling extensively.

Ajay Bhatt

Sales & Marketing Director - APEC Region

Ajay is a true pioneer of scrap trading…

Ajay has extensive experience in our sector, spanning 32 years in scrap trading, in fact he was one of the first people to import Bulk Scrap cargo into India way back in 1991 after Scrap imports were decanlised by the Government of India. 

For the past 22 years, Ajay was working with one of Europe’s largest physical metal recyclers, looking after their South East Asian business. He has been instrumental in opening up the South East Asian market to international trade, having sold million’s of tonnes of scrap metal in his career to date…

 

With unparalleled experience, Ajay is unquestionably one of the most well respected traders in our industry, having helped shape international scrap trade since its inception to where we find ourselves today, universes apart - A man of intense attention to detail and unmatched raw talent, he takes pride in his relationships and goes out of his way to educate both buyers and sellers - on all things quality, shipping & documentation related. 

An asset, an inspiring individual and an expanding footprint into South East Asian markets now give Atlas truly global coverage with established sales offices now up and running in the Middle East, India and Thailand.

Jeremy Philippi

Business Development Director

Jeremy joined Atlas in 2019 with over twenty five years of Sales & Procurement experience having propagated and developed large new business Contracts for both Commercial and Financial services organisations spanning the last decade.

Jeremy set up and built a Procurement Business for the UK’s largest Agro Group in 2012-2018, which provided multiple key inputs to the Rural Farming Community. He managed a large team, delivering best price goods and services to consumers.

 

Jeremy's time is spent developing the Non Ferrous & Paper Business, whereby he manages all purchases and Sales into UK Mills, Europe and the Far East.

 

In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys shooting and spending time with his three children in Norfolk, Scotland and the Alps.

David Hampson

Business Development Director

David has worked closely with Harry for the last ten years at Europe's largest Metal Recycler.

 

During his 10 year tenure, he held various positions including Business Development Manager, Industrial Services Manager before moving into Commercial Management having shown versatility and promise in his ability to drive forward each of these sectors.

 

He then joined the UK Sales Department, in the capacity of UK National Foundry Manager where he was directly responsible for the sale of over 250,000 tonnes of raw material into the UK Foundry Sector. 

 

David's core strengths include a deep seated knowledge of the Industrial and Manufacturing sectors, material make up & chemistry and he has significant experience of arranging B2B deals from factory to furnace.

 

In his spare time David enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, snowboarding in Switzerland and he also represents an Ice Hockey team in Altrincham.

Hannah Fitzgerald

Senior Contracts Manager

Hannah has spent her professional life in the Recycling Industry.

 

She has managed relationship's with our Client's both on the Purchasing & Sales side of the business and is a formidable force with spreadsheets, organisational matters and day to day problem shooting stemming from account management.

 

Her professional and friendly attitude is a credit to her and the company.

In her spare time, Hannah enjoys working out, walks in the countryside and spending time with her beautiful daughter Elizabeth.

Tripti Goyal

Senior Group Financial Controller 

Tripti joined Atlas in early 2020 to manage the Companies Export & Finance departments. She has an MBA from Delhi Business School and a wealth of sector relevant experience with finance and accounts. 

Prior to joining Atlas, Tripti worked for a large multi-national trading house and was responsible for overseeing cradle to grave trades of more than a million tonnes every year.  

Her multi-lingual skills help us to be closer to our customer base on the Indian Sub Continent. 

In her spare time, Tripti enjoys travelling and movies.

Steve Saville

Group Transport & Logistics Manager

Steve joined Atlas in June 2021 and immediately took the bull by the horns, in executing and arranging logistics for over 1,200 loads (30,000MT) of scrap metal from our nationwide customer base for delivery to UK & European Steelworks & Foundries - Despite a UK Driver shortage and a Global Pandemic!

 

There isn't much Steve hasn't seen and done with over 30 years experience in routing trucks, managing and implementing bespoke cradle to grave logistical solutions. 

 

It is estimated Steve has arranged wheels to move circa. 45 million MT of scrap in his illustrious career to date.

 

A true Gent with a ‘the customer is always right’ attitude - Steve plays a pivotal role in delivering the service our valued Customer's have come to expect from Atlas. 

Away from work, Steve is an avid Golfer and a keen fish keeper.

Richard Parry FCAA

Chief Financial Officer

Richard joined Atlas in early 2023 to head up the companies Finance Department. 

Richard has a thorough understanding of both the Steel & Recycling Industry, derivatives and hedging having in his previous capacity been at a metals trading firm.

He looks after the companies accounts, finance lines, derivatives and hedging facilities, reporting of KPI's and variance analysis as well as the group's HR & payroll requirements. 

He has degrees in Accounting & Business and speaks both Russian and Japanese. 

 

In his spare time, Richard enjoys spending time with his family.

Charlie Seale

Commercial Manager

After graduating from the University of Central Lancashire, Charlie followed in his Brother & Father's footstep's spending his first 18 months familiarising himself with all things metal in an operational capacity.

 

Charlie then transitioned onto the Commercial Team in the North East as a Business Development Manager focusing on developing relationships and understanding customer needs.

 

He then move down to the Midlands to help grow the industrial business and was responsible for managing a number of large automotive & blue chip companies in the region. 

Charlie joined Atlas in September 2020. 

 

Outside of work, Charlie is an avid Chelsea fan much to the despair of his wife and Atlas’s own Chairman Marc! He also enjoys cycling, golf & socialising.

Nicole McCarthy

Commercial Accountant

Nicole joined Atlas in late 2020 as the company grew exponentially.

 

Having graduated from the University of South Wales in 2016 with a degree in Accounting & Finance, Nicole worked as an Accountant at a well known global Law Firm for a period of two years before dipping her toe into the world of commodities. 

She worked alongside Harry, Charlie & David in their former life, tasked with reconciling accounts, providing financial accountancy and commercial support, with a keen understanding of scrap and the way the world turns in our industry. 

Having been there and worn the T Shirt, Nicole provides vital support to our customer base in reporting, reconciliation and communication to ensure our customers needs are met. 

Outside of work, Nicole is a keen walker and enjoys the occasional night out!

Leigh Edwards

Chief Commercial Officer

Leigh began his career in 2004 working for Celsa Manufacturing Ltd, one of Europe's leading long product producers.

 

He spent 17 time served years developing his career and the companies supply base, learning from the ground up and holding various positions during his tenure to gain vital experience. 

2011 saw Leigh's first taste for all things scrap when he moved into an Operational Management role.

 

In 2012, Leigh became the group's Senior Buyer, a role he held for 9 years, tasked with sourcing over 100,000MT per month of varying grades and qualities of scrap metal for the UK & European business units, from multiple arising points and industry sources.

 

A highly respected individual through-out the Industry, Leigh during the course of his career has developed an unparalleled understanding of the UK Metals space.

In his spare time, aside from spending time with family & friends, Leigh is a keen Mountain Biker.

Andrew Brady

Expert Advisor - Property & Strategy

Andrew acts as expert advisor to the board on group strategy and property matters, having recently negotiated two large scale & long term leases for the Business.

Andrew is a highly experienced global business leader whose careers spans across a number of Industries and Continents, from Construction to Recycling and Property. 

 

His former role saw Andrew as CEO and main board member of EMR, where he was responsible for full UK P&L and daily running of the UK business. Andrew also restructured the company to establish an international property business into which 70 group sites were transferred providing liquidity and creating value.

He also sat on the board of the UK trade association, BMRA that represents the £7bn UK metal recycling sector.

Andrew's guidance and keen business acumen is an asset to Atlas Commodities Ltd.

Marc Robertson

Chairman

Marc began his career at Metal & Waste Recycling in 2004 as Group Commercial Sales Director, tasked with Sales of Ferrous & Non Ferrous Metals as well as Paper & Plastics Waste accumulated from the group’s extensive servicing of Industrial Accounts. 

The group was awarded The Queen’s Award for Industry in 2005 for Services rendered to UK Industry after surpassing sales of 1million tonnes ($300 million) before Marc and the Family negotiated the sale of the family business in 2008 to Barclay’s Private Equity. 

Following an active role in selling the business, Marc was asked to stay on with Barclay’s PE until 2014 in the capacity of Sales Director.

 

Marc left in 2014 to pursue his own career in forming Atlas Commodities Limited. 

Marc, father of four enjoys shooting game at his residence in Norfolk, is an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan and is partial to the occasional holiday.

Marc is responsible for leading the Board and focusing it on strategic matters, overseeing the Group’s business and setting high governance standards.

 

He plays a pivotal role in fostering the effectiveness of individual as well as being a sounding board and mentor to the Group CEO.​

Harry Seale

CEO

Harry initially spent three years working for Europe's largest Metal Recycler in the Non-Ferrous Department, before spending a further two years in the North East as head of Commercial Activity.

 

Between 2010 and 2012, he also undertook an Operational role, where his responsibilities included overseeing and managing the day to day operational functions of a number of facilities from cable granulation facilities to the Deep Sea Ferrous export yard.

In July 2012, Harry relocated to the Group's Head Office and was made responsible for the worldwide sales of Ferrous metals in containers, to the Domestic and Continental European markets, surpassing sales of 7million tonnes and $2 billion during his tenure.

As well as managing the group's portfolio of customers both at home and abroad, in 2018 Harry became commercially responsible for all of the group's purchasing activity across the UK.

 

In his role as UK General Commercial, he was responsible for all of the UK Commercial Ferrous Activity before leaving EMR in February 2020 to join Atlas Commodities as a joint shareholder.

Harry, when not working enjoys Sailing, Rugby, and F1. He is currently studying an MBA and also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
